Chapter Twenty-Three

Dinner was brought in five minutes later, and they partook of it with laughter and conversation flowing freely. Chloe was very talkative as was Veda and Jasmia, which allowed Tatiana to feel more like a part of the group than an outsider.

After dinner, she joined the others in dance to burn off some of the calories.

“Enjoying yourself?” Alexi asked as she held Tatiana close on a slow song.

“Immensely,” she said with a grin. “I’m glad you invited your friends over.”

“Veda’s your friend,” Alexi said.

“But your friends have girlfriends who might become my friends,” she said, and Alexi swung Tatiana around and dipped her. She brought her up slowly enough that Tatiana shivered as their bodies came back together again. “Are you trying to seduce me?”

“Would it be okay if I was?” Alexi murmured, hands sliding down to rest on her hips as their bodies moved together in a Latin dance Tatiana didn’t know the name of.

“I think so,” Tatiana said as she curled her fingers around Alexi’s nape. “What did you hire them for?”

“To check some things out,” Alexi told her and swung her out, reeling her back in.

Their eyes met and Tatiana shivered. The cat was watching her, and it turned her on.

“Things to do with the cops’ deaths and the drugs?” Tatiana doubted Alexi was going to tell her no matter how she asked.

“Something like that,” Alexi agreed. Alexi slid her hands up Tatiana’s back and drew her closer.

“Did you kill those cops?” she asked softly.

“What answer do you want?”

“The truth.”

Her head lowered, blocking out the lights overhead, and her lips brushed Tatiana’s. She moaned.

The feel of Alexi’s tongue sliding into her mouth, stroking hers, tasting her, made her cream, and her nipples harden.

Alexi traced kisses to her jaw and then to her ear. “You’re beautiful, Tia, and I love you.”

“I love you, too, Alexi,” she said softly feeling wrapped in a blanket.

The song ended and they went back to the table. Alexi pulled Tatiana onto her lap and Tatiana snuggled against her.

“This has been quite a lovely evening, but we have to go,” Veda said. “We’re spending the day in the country with my parents tomorrow which means an early call time.”

“Have fun,” Chloe said.

“Nothing but,” Veda said and waved to them all as Sabrina did.

“We have to go, too,” Darice said. “I have some things to oversee from the fundraiser. They want those pictures as soon as possible.”

“And I’m just plain tired,” Ace said. “So, we’ll catch you guys soon.”

Alexi laughed. “You guys are killjoys.”

“You two can have fun without us,” Ace said in a teasing tone.

Alexi insisted on walking them out.

“I need to talk to housekeeping,” Alexi told her.

“I’ll be in your playroom,” Tatiana said.

“I’ll be up as soon as possible,” she murmured.

Tatiana reached out to caress Alexi’s cheek. “Make it sooner rather than later.”

“I will.”

Tatiana went up to the playroom with Corri on her heels. Corri checked out the room and waited outside.

Tatiana freshened up a bit in the bathroom and changed into a short skirt and white blouse from the closet.
